Position Announcement - Administrative Assistant
Asian Pacific Islander Community Leadership Foundation

About ACLF
The Asian Pacific Islander Community Leadership Foundation (ACLF) was organized in 1998 to identify, train, and mentor promising community leaders, ensuring that the Asian Pacific Islander community is influential in socio-political discourse and policy-making.

Mission
ACLF promotes social, economic and political justice by training and supporting a strong sustainable community of civically engaged leaders that reflects the diversity of local Asians and Pacific Islanders.

Position
ACLF seeks an energetic and organized Administrative Assistant to play a key role in ensuring the efficient operation of the organization. The Administrative Assistant will provide administrative and program support to the Executive Director and Board of Directors. The Assistant will coordinate and provide support for programs, fiscal operations, board and committee activities, events, communications, and overall administrative functions. This position reports to the Executive Director.

Program Support
- Coordination and logistical support to programs, particularly the Community Leaders Program, by working closely with the Executive Director to ensure smooth program implementation.
- Aid in outreach and recruitment for current ACLF programs, as per organizational goals.
Board of Directors Support
- Coordinate board and committee meeting logistics; take meeting minutes; gather and disseminate information to the Board of Directors ensuring smooth communication
- Attend and provide support for Board meetings and other committee meetings as appropriate
Event Coordination
- Coordinate annual graduation dinner fundraiser with Graduation Dinner Committee
- Support Marketing and Fundraising committee event coordination needs
Financial Record Keeping
- Coordinate bookkeeping and accounts payable/receivable via communication with Executive Director, Board Treasurer and bookkeeper.
Communications
- Coordinate and support community outreach and marketing activities
- Manage donor database (eTapestry) and website maintenance; develop newsletters and coordinate/update online blog and networking sites.
Other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
-- Exceptional written and oral communications
-- Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multi-task
-- Demonstrated effective office skills (typing, phones, filing, mailing) and proficiency with personal computers, particularly Microsoft Office
-- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
-- Excellent judgment and tact when dealing with sensitive issues/situations
-- Available for evening and weekend meetings/events (can flex hours)
-- Experience in coordinating and organizing logistics for meetings/events
-- Comfortable and willing to work in a small, busy non-profit office.
-- Committed to the values and mission of ACLF to promote social, economic and political justice.


Desired Qualifications:
-- Minimum 2 years success in an administrative position
-- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
-- Experience in human resources, fundraising, web design and event planning
-- Database and web development management experience
-- Experience in community outreach, organizing and working with communities of color.


Compensation
The Administrative Assistant is a full-time position (40 hours per week) at a pay rate of $14/hour with competitive benefits. The position begins July 1, 2008.

The U.S. Census Bureau is now scheduling Management Tests for management positions for 12 Early Opening Local Census Offices

Completing a one hour multiple choice management test is the first step in applying for a management position. We are now providing the opportunity to all interested applicants to take the test prior to the posting of the positions this summer. All tested applicants will be notified when the positions are posted and will need to submit all application materials by the deadline in the announcement.
